How I became Black Woman Bliss
Black Woman Bliss was created as as a persona to help me manifest my big goals in life. She is the highest version of myself, and becoming her and helped me dream bigger.
After working in Human Resources for 3 years at a toxic "family oriented" company, I was overworked, underpaid, burnt out and perpetually pissed off. As Black women often do in the face of adversity, I decided to dream bigger and I launched my career coaching business - believing I'd be able to leave this toxic job. However, it didn't go well... in fact it went pretty bad.
After investing thousands of dollars on courses, software and even paid ads, my business operated at a loss. I was already living paycheck-to-paycheck and I was building more debt each month. So now, I hated a job, I used to love AND I couldn't figure out how to make my business work.
By 2019, I left that job, and for a while I was happy and in a positive environment but things changed when I gained and promotion and worked for new leadership. I found myself back in the toxic job cycle and eventually the workplace stress and failing business caused me to be diagnosed with anxiety, depression and ADHD.
I was again in a situation where I knew I couldn't continue in this cycle. I had to make a change in my career, business and finances in order to create a life that I loved!
By 2023, I had relaunched my job search and pivoted into Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI), I had finally built a profitable business, and I actually had an emergency savings.
And today, I have grown so much personally and professionally that I've achieved all the goals that I set out to (see image) and more. In Jan 2025. I left my 9-5, and became a full time business owner.
I really feel like Black Woman Bliss Era is finally here because everyday I get to do what I love and walk in my purpose. I love that every day I get to help Black women believe in themselves, bring their biggest dreams to life by creating a career and business they love.
I've learned so much about growing a successful career and business and I'm so excited to share my lessons with other Black women in this special community. I can't wait to see you join Black Woman Bliss with me!
